Have you been affected by the devastating bushfires across New South Wales or Queensland? Support is available for you, including for your tax affairs.
The ATO is allowing extra time to pay your debt or lodge tax forms, among other help such as finding a lost tax file number.
Eligible taxpayers in affected areas now have a two-month lodgement and payment deferral including:
- Extension granted for Individuals who were originally required to pay a tax bill by 21 November 2019, now will have until 21 January 2020 to pay.
- Extension of lodgement date for those who Self prepare Business Activity Statements. The Quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS) which would have normally been due on 11 November is now due 21 January 2020, along with both November and December’s monthly BAS extended to 21 January 2020.
- Extension of lodgement date for Business Activity Statements where you lodge with your accountant. The Quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS) which would have normally been due on 28 November is now due 28 January 2020, along with both November and December’s monthly BAS extended to 21 January 2020.
The extensions have been made possible under the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payments (AGDRP) for eligible taxpayers.
